Penelope
Who said Curry Hill doesn't have great restaurants. Having moved 4 times in Murray Hill (embarrassing), I have my list of favorite "secret" restaurants. One being Penelope. Without a doubt, Penelope is in my TOP TEN out of all restaurants in NYC (FYI - I am a FOODIE). Maybe it's the fact that it's a block from my apartment. Maybe it's the warm cozy atmosphere. Maybe it's because everytime one of my gf's is in town for work, it's our spot. MAYBE it's because the food is better than....pretty close. And although I've tried everything on the menu, my signature order is the "When Veggie Met Sally Salad and a glass of Sparkling Shiraz". And if I have a group of friends with me, the Spinach & Artichoke dip...my mouth is watering now. Check out the menu. I would consider myself a "regular". The waiters pretend they don't know my order but when I start ordering, I swear they are mouthing my order at the same time. It always makes me smile.

Anthropologie's New Wedding Line
That's right, Anthropologie is launching a wedding line on February 14th! Preview the new collection here. I don't think the one-of-a-kind store will let us down. The collection is simply breathtaking.
Real Music
Some people think John Mayer is just a beautiful person with a beautiful voice. But John Mayer is a beautiful artist (and a beautiful person). It's the same reason why I don't like movies with "happy endings". I love the reality of everything even without a "happy ending". His songs are always about the struggle of being "YOU". He questions love and maybe it's because he hasn't found real love, or maybe he doesn't understand it. He's had many relationships with "worthy" women but they never seem to last. It's possible he doesn't feel comfortable being someone's "everything". His songs express he has felt love but not the "I can't live without you" kind of love.
"Would you want me when I'm not myself?"
"Made a plan, stay the man who can only love himself."
"Oh I'll never know what makes this man with all the love that is heart can stand. Dream of ways to throw it all away."
It seems very complex. When it's real love, its not complex...it's easy...it's never questioned. But he's discovering who he is and why he is the way he is. And that's beautiful.
Back to the Basics
"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years."

Sequins
Sequins, sequins, sequins...a trend that never goes out of style. My whole wardrobe is sequins. I just can't get enough. Check out Rock Paper Vintage - they have some great vintage sequined pieces.

Snow, and More Snow!
NEW YORKERS, time to get yourself a pair of snow boots! These are great and you can find them at J.Crew
Blue Valentine
So who liked it and who hated it? The crew I went with thought it was depressing. It's a movie without a happy ending and many people go to the movies "to feel good." So of course some people are going to walk out and be confused. In a weird way, I walked out with a smile. For some strange reason, the majority of my favorite movies are movies without happy endings: Closer, Pay It Foward, Terms of Endearment, Romeo & Juliet, 500 Days of Summer...the list goes on. They are movies that feel real to me. I'm a big believer in "all good things come to an end." Not trying to be pessimistic here but it's reality. Bad things happen to good people - it's life and it's what we deal with every day. It's comforting to know that the movie business have the same opinions. Life is not a fairytale and it's up to us to keep on going. What I saw in Blue Valentine was a beautiful love between two people and how sometimes the love doesn't last. It happens every day to people and I'd rather sit through a movie like this and accept reality then sit through a rom com and live life in denial.
In an interview with Current TV, Michelle Williams said, "It's built up so much over time to be so many things along the way. And I think for me, I discovered that it's not, 'How do I leave this guy?' but that the two of them are broken. It's me that I can't live with. It's me that I'm trying to run away from."
And they sure did clean up nice.
Nude Lips
Obsessed with nude lips. I have been rockin' this look for many years. I've tried the red lips and I'm just not "Anne Hathaway" enough. Nude lips make your eyes pop and gives you that natural, yet exotic look. If you really want to accentuate the exotic look, use black/grey eyeshadow.

Chunky Necklaces
Living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, I'm not a really a girl that can afford "the best of the best". Don't get me wrong, I shop. I wasted money on clothes with absurd patterns so of course, could only wear a few times. My NEW thing is to buy solid, simple, cheap shirts/dresses/skirts and pair with an eccentric chunky necklace. It definitely makes a statement.
Welcome to The Over-Analyst!
I enjoy analyzing. It's one of the things people may consider a problem, yet it's one of the things I really like to do. I think it makes us more interesting and leads us to new discoveries. Overanalyzing happens because you really have a deep interest in learning about life, the good and the bad. I embrace my desires, I feel inspired and I witness the beauty.
